This paper was part of my coursework in TE 811 Philosophical Inquiry and Contemporary Issues in Education.
Throughout my graduate coursework I have researched issues in literacy education with a focus on how students best learn language skills. This focus further developed into particular concern for how students for whom English is an additional language (EALs) become highly literate. This research, while very worthwhile, did not actually substantiate a reason to promote additional languages in the classroom in order to benefit all students. My paper, linked below, presents an argument for the societal benefits of bilingual education.
